For us, crossing borders is not merely an academic concept — it is a commitment.
Yet for many of our colleagues affected by war, conflict, or regional instability, travelling to an international conference is not simply difficult — it may be impossible. We believe that research does not stop in times of war or crisis. Teacher educators working in challenging and unstable contexts continue to work, study, reflect, and produce knowledge that matters — often under circumstances that make their contribution all the more remarkable.
In a conference dedicated to crossing borders, we believe it is important not to let geopolitical circumstances prevent these colleagues from participating. This is why the ATEE 2026 Organising Committee has introduced a dedicated online paper presentation option for colleagues affected by war, conflict, or regional instability.
Participants will be able to submit abstracts, present their research, and take part in the academic life of the conference as official participants, fully integrated into the conference programme.
As an international academic community, our responsibility is to build bridges, not to reproduce the barriers that already exist in the world. We are proud to offer this opportunity and warmly invite colleagues to join us — online, yet fully present — as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of ATEE in Białystok, 25-28 August 2026.
