The opening evening of the conference will bring participants together in a welcoming regional atmosphere, combining informal conversation with a live folk music concert by Czeremszyna - one of Poland’s most original folk music groups, rooted in the cultural landscape of Podlasie.
Founded in 1993 in Czeremcha, a small town near the Polish-Belarusian border, Czeremszyna draws inspiration from the traditional songs of the Polish, Belarusian, and Ukrainian borderland. Their music brings together authentic regional melodies, powerful polyphonic singing, rich instrumentation, and contemporary stage energy.
For more than three decades, the group has been transforming the musical heritage of the multicultural borderlands into vivid, expressive, and engaging performances. Their concerts combine tradition with modern arrangements, creating an atmosphere that is both deeply local and universally accessible.
Coincidentia is an independent theatre group founded in 2009 by Dagmara Sowa and Paweł Chomczyk, both graduates of the Białystok Puppet Art Department of the Theatre Academy. Based in Białystok and deeply rooted in the cultural landscape of Podlasie, the group creates contemporary theatre of many means of expression, with a particular interest in puppet theatre and visually distinctive stage language.
Over the years, Coincidentia has created more than a dozen productions in collaboration with acclaimed artists from Poland and abroad. Their performances have been presented at festivals and guest stages across Europe, Asia, and North America, and have received numerous distinctions, including major awards at international theatre festivals.
The group is also the founder of Solniki 44 - an independent cultural centre in the forests of Podlasie - and the initiator of LasFest and LasKids, projects that combine theatre, education, and artistic exchange with the natural environment. Coincidentia describes itself as a theatre that unites opposites - a meeting point of different artistic paths, ideas, and sensibilities.
Join a guided walking tour of Białystok – a city with a rich multicultural heritage. The tour includes the magnificent Branicki Palace and its gardens, Kościuszko Market Square – the historic city center, the Białystok Cathedral, St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, and the impressive St. Roch’s Church. The walk also passes the modern Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic and historic Lipowa Street.
A visit to the Sybir Memorial Museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the history of deportations and the fate of Poles exiled to Siberia.
The Museum also holds a special place on the cultural map of the Podlaskie region, serving as an important centre for dialogue on the history of the region and its multicultural heritage.
Discover the history of the picturesque town of Tykocin. The program includes a visit to the Great Synagogue in Tykocin and the reconstructed Tykocin Castle, a walk around the historic market square, and a stop at Pentowo Stork Village. The trip also includes a regional lunch inspired by traditional Jewish cuisine.
This excursion presents the unique cultural diversity of the Podlasie region. Participants will visit the charming town of Supraśl, including the Museum of Icons and the historic Orthodox Monastery, followed by the Tatar village of Kruszyniany to see the historic Mosque and enjoy a regional lunch inspired by Tatar cuisine.
A full-day excursion to the remarkable Białowieża Forest – one of Europe’s last primeval forests and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The program includes a visit to the European Bison Show Reserve, a walk along forest trails, and a visit to the modern exhibition at the Białowieża National Park Nature and Forest Museum. A regional lunch is also included.
