History & Tradition

The history of the Faculty dates back to the late 1960s. We have been offering master’s level education since 1972. In acknowledgement of its achievements, the Faculty was granted the right to confer Doctor of Social Sciences degrees in 1995 and post-doctoral degrees (habilitacja) in 2019.

Graduates from the faculty are highly qualified professionals who go on to secure employment in both the private and public sector.

International Cooperation

The Faculty is strongly committed to internationalisation via the Erasmus+ programme and partnerships across Europe. We have also hosted many teachers from Ukraine and Lithuania via international internships. The Faculty actively participates in ATEE conferences and had the honour of organising the ATEE Spring Conference in 2018.

The university consists of 15 faculties in Białystok, plus a Faculty of Economics and Informatics in Vilnius (Lithuania), making it the only Polish university with a foreign branch.

Association for Teacher Education in Europe

The ATEE is a non-profit European organisation, whose aim is enhancing the quality of teacher education in Europe and supporting the professional development of teachers and teacher educators at all levels.

The ATEE takes part in a broad network of national and international institutions, associations and governmental bodies. Through our memberships, we cover most of Europe; countries like the United States, Australia and Israel; and African countries. The ATEE also provides advice to the European Commission and international organisations.
